Tell the director exactly what will travel

Identify the proposed operating carrier rather than assuming every airline uses the same rules. Explain whether a relative plans to travel with an urn. Ask about the actual itinerary, container and document file before buying a ticket or casket.
For a body, coordinate the cargo documentation
Korean Air Cargo’s FAQ identifies death and embalming records for a body and specifies Korean or English documentation, with translated and notarized records when written in other languages. It directs families to the origin or destination cargo office for details.
Ask the arranging director to confirm the current file, packaging, booking acceptance and arrival contact. A carrier checklist should be compared with applicable Texas and South Korean requirements; do not treat it as a complete government entry authorization.
Confirm entry and health requirements for the case
South Korea’s Quarantine Act provisions on bodies address cases involving quarantine infectious diseases. Have the director and receiving provider confirm whether any health-related condition changes preparation, documents or acceptance in the individual case.

Keep passenger and cargo instructions separate
For ashes, ask the airline which rules apply to accompanied baggage and which apply to a separately shipped urn. Do not rely on a brief cargo FAQ to decide what a passenger must carry. Confirm the destination documents and the chosen travel container with the actual operating airline.
If another airline operates a connection, check its acceptance too. Agree which records travel with the urn and keep the receiving person informed of any itinerary change.
Agree who receives your loved one
Tell the arranging director the intended city and final funeral, burial or placement location. Ask the receiving provider who handles arrival formalities and who transports your loved one onward. Confirm contacts and responsibilities in writing.
