For Frisco families
Frisco is unusual among DFW cities: most of it sits in Collin County, but a growing western slice — roughly the area west of the Dallas North Tollway extension — is in Denton County, and a small piece touches into Dallas County. For a family arranging cremation or burial, the county where the death actually occurred determines where the death certificate is filed, which medical examiner has jurisdiction if the case is unattended or sudden, and how quickly the cremation permit can be issued. Because Frisco has grown outward from its historic center through three counties at once, that boundary question comes up more often here than in any other city we serve.
The result is that two Frisco neighbors on opposite sides of a county line can experience the paperwork on slightly different timelines. Most of Frisco — Stonebriar, Frisco Square, Grayhawk, and the eastern half generally — runs through the Collin County Clerk in McKinney. West Frisco, including the area near Preston Vineyards and parts of the FM 423 corridor, runs through the Denton County Clerk in Denton. Vargas-London is licensed statewide, so filings in either county are equally routine for us, and we handle the county sort as part of the arrangement conversation rather than something the family has to figure out first.
