Sylvia Mildred Vialva

Sylvia Mildred Vialva, age 98, passed away on September 25, 2026, in Mesquite, Texas. She was born on February 20, 1928, in Sangre Grande, Trinidad, to Evelyn Richardson.

Sylvia was born and raised in Trinidad, where she attended RC Elementary. She married Pat Noriega in 1946, and they had one child.

Sylvia was an outstanding seamstress in Trinidad for many decades. It seemed like every garment she made or altered was done in the most perfect way possible. She took her time and really immersed herself in the creation of every piece.

In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, and she would pour her heart and soul into every dish. She also had a passion for gardening. By watching her grow her garden, you could see how patient and nurturing she was, and the thing she adored most was her beautiful rose bushes. That same nurturing spirit showed in her passion for helping those in need.

Sylvia was a very handy woman. If something needed to be fixed, she was the one to make something old work like new again. She would always say, “a little axe can cut down a big tree.” It never mattered the size of the problem at hand, because she would find a way to overcome any and all obstacles.

Family and friends will always remember her as a loving woman. She was a tamed fire in the eyes of those close to her. She was a very kind-hearted daughter, sister, and mother who always treated everyone with the utmost respect.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Richardson; her seven siblings, Eric, Elaine, Norma, Phyllis, Stella, Jeanne, and Jacqueline; and her grandchild, James Goodall.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer Goodall; her granddaughter, Jennifer Davis; her great-grandchildren, Jordan Winston, Jazmyn Winston, and Kiyanna Goodall; and her great-great-granddaughter, Ka’Yorrie Goodall. She also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews, including Donna, Felix, Toni, Allison, Michael, Charlene, and many others.
