DFW Cemetery Guide: Where Families Bury and Inter Across the Metroplex

Choosing a cemetery is a separate decision from choosing a funeral home, and it deserves its own homework: cemeteries differ by faith, by neighborhood tradition, by county, and by what they offer for cremated remains. Each profile below covers the grounds, the sections, what the cemetery charges for (opening/closing, markers, vaults), and how we coordinate the procession and committal.

The eight profiles, nearest first

Drive times are from our care center at 12101 Greenville Ave in normal traffic.

• Restland Memorial Park (~5 min) — 13005 Greenville Ave — non-denominational, and the shortest procession of any cemetery we serve, five minutes up Greenville Avenue.
• Sparkman/Hillcrest Memorial Park (~15 min) — 7405 W Northwest Hwy in the Park Cities corridor — the historic choice for Park Cities and North Dallas families.
• Calvary Hill Cemetery (~20 min) — The anchor Catholic cemetery of the Diocese of Dallas, in northwest Dallas off I-635 — about 12 minutes from the Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
• Oakland Cemetery (20–25 min) — 3900 Malcolm X Blvd — the historic South Dallas grounds, reached via US-75 through downtown.
• Laurel Land Memorial Park (25–30 min) — 6300 S R L Thornton Fwy on I-35E — the large non-denominational park serving South Dallas and Oak Cliff traditions.
• Pecan Grove Memorial Park (~30 min) — Central McKinney, straight up US-75 — a Collin County matter, with the death certificate filed at the Collin County Clerk minutes away.
• Gates of Heaven Cemetery (30–35 min) — 8000 Eldorado Pkwy, Frisco — the newest Diocese of Dallas cemetery, and the close option for Frisco, McKinney, Allen, and north Plano families.
• Mount Olivet Cemetery (45–55 min) — Fort Worth’s Northside near the Stockyards — the far edge of our service area, where the Funeral Mass at All Saints and the committal are blocks apart.

Which cemetery for which need

Catholic burial: the Diocese of Dallas options are Calvary Hill (the anchor), Gates of Heaven (the newest, for Collin County families), and — on the Fort Worth side — Mount Olivet. Our overview compares all three:

Closest to North Dallas: Restland, five minutes from our door, with Sparkman/Hillcrest fifteen minutes away for Park Cities families. South Dallas and home-going tradition: Laurel Land and the historic Oakland Cemetery. Collin County: Pecan Grove in McKinney, or Gates of Heaven in Frisco for Catholic families.

What the cemetery charges vs. what we charge

Plot prices are set by each cemetery and change; current ranges come from the cemetery office, and every profile above explains what to ask. The funeral home side is published and fixed: our packages are on our pricing page, and cemetery costs are paid at cost with no markup. The graveside service itself typically runs 15–30 minutes; the cemetery completes the burial after the family departs, and the marker follows from the monument company some weeks later.
